Since its inception back in 2002, Position One Motorsports began the long and arduous task of establishing a strong reputation in the motorsports world. Beginning with go-kart competition, Position One began building it's foundation and soon thereafter other competitors began seeing glimpses of what the organization was to become. After getting its feet wet in 2002, the team began winning races in 2003 and 2004 in spectacularly dominating fashion. At the conclusion of the 2004 season, driven by the continuous desire to challenge itself and the relentless passion to win, team principle Luis Martinez Sr decided to switch kart chassis, one week prior to the California State Championships. Though it was risky, the change worked and the team went on to win 2 State Championships.  In 2005, the team continued its dominance when it won 2 more State Championships.  The move solidified the teams' decision on a new chassis of choice for the future – AVANTI.

AVANTI proved to be fast out of the box and with 2 years of Engine R&D, the team went on to win 4 IKF Grand National Titles, 4 Regional Titles and club-level races between 2 drivers - how’s that for team work! With the endless help from JM Racing and the relentless commitment to winning, Position One soon was on many podiums and everyone’s stop watch!

In 2006, Position One began to focus on engine building and supporting customers with their engine needs. Although engines became the focus, AVANTI continued to be the chassis of choice for one-offs and sponsored drivers.

In 2007, Position One would purchase Formula Renault race cars to compete in the Formula TR series and finished 3rd in points, with 4 wins throughout the 07 season. Drivers in the 07 season included Luis Jr, Sergio Peña and Kerstin Smutny.

In 2008, Position One Motorsports did a 180° and entered the Whelen All American NASCAR Weekly Racing Series at Southern California’s Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, with Luis Martinez Jr. driving the #03 KING TACO powered Chevrolet.  The result at the end of the season was a very respectable ninth place in the Championship standings out of 60 competitors.  Martinez also entered a couple races in the NASCAR Camping World West Series which expanded his stock car resume.

2009 saw Martinez continue competing in the Whelen All American NASCAR Weekly Racing Series at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.   With one full year under his belt, Martinez was a force to reckon with on the track.

Alongside Martinez was Mackena Bell, in the #30 Drive For Diversity NGK Chevy Super Late Model. Both Martinez and Bell finished the season strong with one win and a few podiums between both drivers. 

In the Karting division, The Position One team brought home over 30 wins and countless podiums between drivers Bobby Kelley, Sergio Peña, Dylan Nobile, Devin Lindsey and Luis Martinez, Jr. Avanti, Maddox and P1 Engines proved to be winners in the team's full time return to Karting.

2010 also saw the birth of a new series at Toyota Speedway. Position One bought into the idea of a truly SPEC Stock Car Class (S2) and brought back P1 Veteran Driver, Randel King. King brought home the inaugural championship with 7 wins to him name.  

Currently, Position One operates a shop in Baldwin Park, California which focuses on Karting and Stock Car Racing.  Position One is also a dealer and distributor of various products and companies including K1 Race Gear, Oakley, Speed Lock, AVANTI kart, Maddox kart and Molecule.
