Bell and Martinez Have Mixed Results at Twin Events

For Position One Motorsports the NASCAR ACDelco Super Late Model 2009 season, drivers Luis Martinez Jr # 03-King Taco/Eibach Springs/Molecule and Mackena Bell # 30-NASCAR Drive for Diversity/ Mackena Bell Motorsports/ K. Dub Creative Web Design/ K. Bell Tile & Marble/Sciarroni Bros Racing, McBride Machine/Bell Helmets/NGK Spark Plugs have had a season with many ups and downs. Despite it all, Martinez and Bell have kept their cool and have risen to the challenge. With the season reaching its halfway point, both drivers are looking to improve their point standings and kick it into high gear for the Summer.

Qualifying:
With Sunny skies greeting the team at the half mile track, qualifying went off without a hitch for Martinez who entered the track and drove 2 perfectly executed laps. Martinez's time would eventually hold on to the fourth spot. Martinez's teammate Bell took to the track and muscled her #30 entry and slid into the fourteenth spot.

Race:
Martinez rocketed at the start and immediately showed he was determined to race to the front. Once reaching the third spot, Martinez soon began battling for second. With fifteen laps to go, Martinez had slight contact with another car which caused his tire to rub. The rub progressively got worse and fearing that the tire would eventually blow, Martinez pulled off course and the Position One Motorsports team quickly went to work replacing the damaged tire. Martinez reentered the track in fifteenth and showed why he belongs in the series by quickly making up ground. Coming all the way from the last spot, Martinez trudged his way through the field and ended up finishing the race in sixth. The youngster from Long Beach finds himself ninth in the championship standings

Mackena Bell had an eventful race. Starting in the fourteenth spot she quickly made ground and kept up with the pace and by lap forty-six she found herself in the thirteenth spot but got loose and spun the #30 entry at the start/finish line. She got the car restarted, but was relegated back one spot to fourteenth where she would eventually finish.

Luis Martinez Jr - Driver: “Overall it was a pretty good weekend. We showed we could come back after an on-track, keep our composure, and re-enter the race and still be competitive. I'm proud of the crew and thankful to them and our sponsors for their support and hard work”

Mackena Bell – Driver: “The team did a great job and I'm happy with how we are progressing and while we may not have had the results we would like to have had we are making progress and I have faith in my team. Again, I want to thank my sponsors”
