ROD JOHNSON JR

For Rod Johnson Jr, it was inevitable that he would become a racer.  His Father raced, as did his grandfather.  It was in his DNA.  But unlike many before him who have chosen racing as their path, it took Rod, or R.J. as many of his friends call him, some time to hear and answer his calling.  Today he stands as one of the most promising and watched stock car drivers to appear in the Southern California racing community.

Born on September 3, 1989, the now 21-year old began his racing career at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale in 2008.  It was there that he first dipped his toes in the racing waters and immediately showed his skills on the oval.  Entering the King Taco Super Truck Series, R.J. earned 2 wins and finished 4th in the Championship standings.  He capped that off by also securing Rookie of the Year honors.   The following year, R.J. returned to the series and honed his skills even further.  He doubled his wins and won the championship in spectacular fashion.

The spectacular year RJ had in 2009 helped him climb the racing ladder in 2010, when he joined High Point Racing and Racecar Factory  to drive for them in the Auto Club Late Model division.  Just as he had done in the past, R.J. continued to impress and most importantly win!  He had a series high of six wins and, once again, added the title of Rookie of the Year and Championship to his resume.

RJ’s incredible racing story continued to unfold and after joining Position One Motorsports in November 2010, he broke the Super Late Model track qualifying record at the high profile California Classic and also started on the pole for the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown in January 2011.
Continuing his relationship with Position One Motorsports as their Super Late Model driver, R.J. began the season with what many consider the first of many wins.  He will also be driving for Sunrise Ford Racing in the K&N Pro Series West in a limited number of races.

TAYLOR MIINCH

Taylor Miinch started racing at the young age of four.  When most children at that age are learning how to write their ABC’s, young Taylor was at Southern California’s Adams Motorsports Park whipping his go-kart around the track.  The racing DNA was indeed ingrained in Miinch.  He is a 3rd generation racer.  Sensing that there was talent even at that young age, his father exposed Taylor to go-karting and for the next  10 years Taylor honed his racing craft at local and national tracks.  His karting journey earned him numerous prestigious awards, including 5 IKF Grand National Championships, 5 Fast Time Awards, 2009 SKUSA SuperNationals TAG Sr. Championship and he was awarded the Lake Speed Achievement award.

Fast forward to 2010, Taylor’s next step was to jump into the ASA Truck Series and the result was immediate success.   Going from road course racing in a go-kart to circle track racing is usually met with missteps and a period of adjustment, but Taylor who was 15 at the time, jumped in and never looked back.  His 2010 circle track racing effort was viewed by many observers as a solid and promising debut.  He finished the season 3rd in the Championship and second in the Rookie of the Year standings.

In 2011 Taylor joins the Position One Motorsports team as their full time Late Model driver.
